A webinar will take place at 6.30pm on Monday 6 February as part of Ofsted’s and Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) joint inspection of Southampton local area. The inspection which will take place between 6th-10th February will include the online webinar as a tool for enabling Southampton parent/carers to contribute. It will be led by the lead inspector, Matthew Barnes, who is seeking parent/carers views and experiences on how effectively Southampton is fulfilling its responsibilities.
The areas the teams will focus on are:
· How well the local area identifies and assesses the needs of children and young people who have special educational needs and/or disabilities
· How well it meets the needs of these children and young people so that their outcomes and chances of participating fully in society improve.
While the inspection acknowledges that many parents and carers may have views on their experience that extend before the implementation of the reforms in September 2014, it is important that this date is used as the start for gathering evidence about the impact of the reforms have had.
The inspection will not be able to able to follow up or comment upon individual cases raised by parent/carers.

This is not the only way parent/carers can get involved as Inspectors will also be visiting a variety of education providers and settings. Parent/carers whose child’s setting is in scope for a visit will receive a letter direct from the setting with further details.
